He/Him

Julian Abelskamp is an actor and recent transplant from New York to
Los Angeles. He received his MFA from Columbia University, as well as certificates
in acting from the Atlantic Acting School and the Royal Central School of Speech
and Drama in London.
He most recently appeared as Toby Darling in The Inheritance at the Geffen
Playhouse. Before and during grad school, Julian spent several seasons at the
Williamstown Theatre Festival, where credits include Alien/Nation (dir. Michael
Arden), Taiga in the Berkshires, Faded: A Calypso, and A Legendary Romance (dir.
Lonny Price). Other credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Classical Theatre
of Harlem); Tomorrow Will Be Sunday (Chautauqua Theatre Company); and Voices
from a Pandemic (Chautauqua/Notch Theatre). Favorite shows from his time at
Columbia include Moscow x6 by Halley Feiffer, Measure for Measure, and Uncle
Vanya.
As a teacher, Julian returned to Columbia’s MFA program as adjunct faculty for the
Spring ’23 semester. He’s also worked with ASTEP (now Arts Ignite!) and completed
the Roundabout Theatre Company Teaching Artist Training Program.
Julian is a big believer in using the body to liberate the actor’s full potential and loves
passing on what he’s learned to fellow artists! www.julianabelskamp.com
